The History of the Park District Board
Paulding County Park District Board Time line as we know it:
1935 – Dedication ceremony held to proclaim New Rochester park the first county park. It was then turned over to the Paulding County Park Board to manage. It would remain a park until it was given to ODOT for use as a roadside rest. (Date unknown)
August 2003 –Park District created with 80 Acre donation in Crane Township
December 2014 – The question of whether or not to dissolve the Park District Board comes to Judge. It was determined that the Park District Board would be given a 10 Month “stay” to re-energized the Park District.
February 2015 – Park District viability confirmed. Linda Hodges appointed Chairperson.
2016 – New Rochester Parks transferred from ODOT to Parks
2017 – Board goes from 3 to 5 members
2018– Board acquired 5 Span Park
2018– Board acquired state owned canal property located within Paulding County.
